In this webinar we look at “Give Us A Chance” (GUAC) the leading consortium of social landlords who are rising to the challenge of helping people into work. Their Mission is to transform lives by enabling housing providers to support people into employment.
The provision of social housing is one of the biggest challenges of our time. That provision has been taken up by many Housing Associations who provide housing for a variety of different clients.
Around half of working-age social housing residents are currently out of work and the unemployment rate among working-age social housing residents is almost three times that of other tenures.
Creating long-term and genuinely sustainable employment opportunities for social housing residents is vital in order to help residents sustain their own tenancies, whilst also making a crucial contribution to cutting the welfare bill.
In this Webinar Lynsey Boother from GUAC will show how housing associations and social landlords working together can influence policy, share information and resources and create partnerships to make a difference.
Lynsey has worked across housing, employment & skills services for the last three years with the National Housing Federation; developing partnerships and advocating for greater business integration between the two sectors.
Lynsey has worked across employment and skills programmes for 10 years, with roles involving business development, work based learning contracts, Apprenticeship Training Agency & Group Training Agency start-ups and Further Education management.
GUAC works in partnership with a range of stakeholders to build influence around the housing and employment agenda, on behalf of their members.
Through their influencing, sharing and partnership development priorities they aim to put social housing providers at the heart of the employment and skills agenda
